Elvis started off as a nobody, but people gave him a chance to be somebody. His parents were hard workers that wanted to give him the best life they could but all of the love in the world would not make him the person he wanted to be. He wanted to be known and a legend sense he was little. Elvis started off singing in his gospel church choir. Every chance he got he took it to sing. He also joined a band named the Lauderdale Courts, with four other boys (Genry). This is how he got so used to being on stage and preforming.
His fame was not just handed to him, he worked extremely hard for it. He would send Sam Phillips, the Sun Studio owner, tapes of him preforming. Sam was uninterested in them but Elvis would not prevail. One day he gave him a chance to audition for a new song, "Without You." As you could imagine Elvis was super excited for this opportunity, he impressed Sam and Bill Black, a bass player, they thought his sound was different and saw potential in him. They decided to have him record some songs to see if he was a fluke or if he really had "it" (Gentry).
Two months later Phillips was disappointed in what Elvis and Black had come up with. He thought that it sounded to country, but then after he said that, Elvis picked up his guitar and started to sing the bluesy song "That's All Right". Both loved that prefomence emensly and decided that his was the style he was ment to sing, and this kid had talent (Gentry).
